Mumbai, Oct 28: Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor promoted her upcoming movie ”Kurbaan” at a gala event here last evening.

Set in the United States, ”Kurbaan” is a romantic thriller with terrorism as its backdrop.

Kareena said that the film provides a balanced dose of love, intensity and emotions.

“”Kurbaan” is a very different kind of film, it is more like an English movie. As far as the issue of tagline is concerned, I can say that it is because the film contains lot of intensity and emotions, it has gritty,” said Kareena

The film tries to depict the post bombing effect on the daily lives of Muslim population living in the US after September 11 attacks on the World Trade Towers.

On this score, Kareena said that though the film deals with militancy, it is a romantic thriller.

“It has nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks on World Trade Centre.  Though it has terrorism as a backdrop but it is love story,” she added.

She also promoted this film on a private FM radio station.

Directed by a debutant Rensil D”Silva, the film stars Saif Ali Khan, Dia Mirza, Kiron Kher, Vivek Oberoi and Om Puri.

Salim Merchant and Sulaiman Merchant have composed the music for the songs penned by famed lyricist and screenplay writer Prasoon Joshi who is also renowned in the world of advertising and marketing.

The film is slated to release November 27

London, October 28 (ANI): Elizabeth Taylor has hailed her late long-term friend Michael Jackson as a “modern-day prophet”.

The Hollywood veteran praised the King of Pop on her Twitter page, calling him a genius.

“To say the man is a genius is an understatement. He cradles each note, coaxes the music to depths beyond reality,” the Sun quoted her as saying.

“You owe it to yourselves and your loved ones to see this again and again. Memorize it and say to yourselves, ”I saw genius in my lifetime.””

“If you listen to his lyrics, they are those of a modern-day prophet and it beseeches us to listen to him and what he sang,” she added

London, Oct 28 (ANI): Veteran guitarist Eric Clapton had to cancel his performance at this week”s Rock and Roll Hall concert extravaganza in New York to undergo surgery to have gallstones removed.

The guitarist was scheduled to perform at Madison Square Garden on Friday, the second of a two-night celebration of the hall”s 25th anniversary.

Clapton, 64, “will spend time recuperating at home in the UK and is very sorry to disappoint the fans and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” the Telegraph quoted a statement released by his publicist as saying.

The statement further added that there wouldn’t be any change in his tour itinerary otherwise.

Other artists who are scheduled to perform at the event include U2, Aretha Franklin, Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne and Annie Lennox.

The concert is not related to the annual Hall of Fame induction, which takes place in New York next March.

Aishwarya rated as the most bankable Bollywood star in Hollywood

Even as Aishwarya Rai’s ‘Pink Panther 2’ faced harsh criticisms from the media and critics, the film gave a true international stepping to the Bachchan Bahu. There are a lot of promising international projects in her kitty at present, first with actress and chat-show hostess Tyra Banks, then a project with Will Smith who has been craving to cast Ash right from the time he offered her Hitch and the recent 7 Pounds and also the long-pending project Chaos with Meryl Streep, are just to name a few.

The world is rejoicing for Jai Ho maestro A.R Rahman, but not many are aware of the fact that A.R Rahman had a close shave with death just two days before the Oscar ceremony.

Rahman recalls, I really don’t know what happened. Two days before the Oscars we were rehearsing at one of the theatres for the Oscars, the Jay Leno Show and the Oprah Winfrey Show when a massive chandelier, covering portion of the ceiling crashed to the spot just a split -second after I moved away.”

“ If I hadn’t moved way I’d have become history after making history in no time at all.The chandelier crashed exactly at the spot I was standing in just seconds before. It left me shaken but not terrified. I guess it was God’s warning not to take any of the good things that are happening to me too seriously.”
